ISPN promotes and values community initiatives for the sustainable use of biodiversity, understanding that ecosystem balance associated with quality of life in rural areas and forests is an important counterpoint to the predominant model of occupation of native savanna and forest areas, based on deforestation for the establishment of large monocultures and pastures for extensive livestock farming.
Throughout more than 20 years of work, the institute has developed numerous projects aimed at conserving Brazilian biomes while respecting and valuing the culture of traditional peoples and communities, pointing the way to building new paradigms for sustainable development.
