A Medicinal Plants Primer is a bilingual publication (Tenetehar-Portuguese) produced collaboratively by the Guajajara people of the Maçaranduba Village in the Caru Indigenous Territory, bringing together ancestral knowledge on 85 plant species and 19 animal species for medicinal purposes. The result of intergenerational collaboration, the material records scientific names, traditional uses, and preparation methods, illustrated with photographs taken by Indigenous people. In addition to strengthening community health, the booklet contributes to cultural appreciation and the teaching of the Tenetehar language in Guajajara schools.

This initiative is part of the environmental licensing of the Carajás Railway Expansion project, by Vale SA, together with FUNAI and Ibama, whose implementing partner is the Institute of Society, Population and Nature (ISPN).
