In September, the booklet "Traditional Communities of Fecho de Pasto and their own way of living with the Cerrado: history, rights and challenges" was launched, produced by the Association of Small Breeders of Fecho de Pasto de Clemente, from Correntina-BA.

This booklet was created collaboratively and aims to document the way of life of the Pasture Enclosure Communities, to give visibility to these communities, and to support reflection and debate within them. It is intended for traditional Pasture Fund and Enclosure communities, as well as their representative associations and other organizations involved with issues of territorial protection and socio-biodiversity.

Most of the communities of Fechos de Pasto (traditional grazing systems) are located in the Cerrado biome, the most threatened biome in Brazil. The issues discussed in this booklet offer elements for a better understanding of the Cerrado and its occupation, especially the occupation of the western region of Bahia, the Traditional Communities of Fecho de Pasto, and for reflecting on their existence, history, customs, culture, challenges, beauty, and potential.

These communities have historically formed as a viable way of living in harmony with the Cerrado and its biodiversity; the people who comprise them are true guardians of life and territory.

Created as a study material by the Community Association of Small Breeders of the Clemente Pasture Enclosure – ACCFC, the booklet was one of the results of the project “Strengthening Traditional Communities of Pasture Enclosures and the Management and Sustainable Use of the Socio-biodiversity of the Cerrado”, supported by the Small Ecossocial Projects Program (PPP-ECOS/ISPN).
