Local Communities in the UNFCCC — Path to a climate regime of reparation and justice
This booklet explains, in an accessible way, how local communities have sought space and recognition within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The material shows why these communities are essential to protecting nature and addressing climate change in their territories, while also revealing the barriers that still limit their participation in global decisions and access to resources. The publication also presents the creation of the Global Caucus of Local Communities, an international network that strengthens the voice of these populations and contributes to a fairer, more inclusive, and anti-racist climate governance.
