The Sociobiodiversity Program strengthens community production chains and initiatives, encouraging the inclusion of sociobiodiversity products in different markets. Launched in 2024, it recognizes how Indigenous peoples, traditional peoples and communities, and family farmers (PIPCTAFs) use the resources of their territories and knowledge to produce products and services that generate income and improve quality of life.
With the purpose of promoting biodiversity conservation through the use, economies, and sustainable ways of life of indigenous peoples, traditional peoples and communities, and family farmers, it works on capacity development; political dialogues articulated in civil society networks; knowledge management and communication; and support for community businesses.
This strategy promotes environmental conservation, cultural appreciation, food security and sovereignty, as well as income generation and social justice, which are fundamental to implementing solutions to the climate crises, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity.
