Webinar series highlights the positive impacts of Meliponiculture.

In early October, on the 3rd, National Bee Day was celebrated, and in reference to the date, the ISPN, the Local Economic Development Agency (Adel), and Eco Nordeste Content Agency are conducting the series Sustainable Practices in the Caatinga: Meliponiculture as a Driver of Local Development, an opportunity for To remember the importance of this species, fundamental to human survival itself, as well as to highlight actions with meliponiculturists in the Northeast and the preservation of ecosystems, especially the Caatinga biome.

Through this series, the organizations aim to produce content about meliponiculture (stingless beekeeping) and discuss its importance for local development, highlighting it as a sustainable activity that helps preserve plant species and maintain biological balance in different Brazilian biomes. The raising of stingless bees is an activity highly adapted to traditional communities.

There will be six episodes featuring researchers, producers, and social organizations that work with this production chain. The series will be broadcast on Adel's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/AdelBRThe first episode will air on Thursday the 8th, at 19 PM. https://youtu.be/63HPUtcdI8QAdriano Batista, Executive Director of Adel; Rodrigo Noleto, Coordinator of the Amazon Program at ISPN; and Everardo Alves, Meliponiculturist from the Nectar do Sertão Network, discuss how meliponiculture drives local development, its potential, and opportunities. The virtual meeting will be moderated by Maristela Crispim, journalist and creator of Eco Nordeste. 

Every Thursday at 7 PM, a topic within the series' overall theme will be explored: October 15th – Webinar: How to raise native bees? The regulation of meliponaries and the choice of species; October 22nd – Webinar: Good management practices in meliponiculture; October 29th – Webinar: Processing and marketing of stingless bee honey; November 5th – Webinar: Innovation and sustainability in meliponiculture; November 12th – Webinar: The importance of Local Productive Arrangements in meliponiculture.
