The PIPOU Program scholarship program aims to contribute to the retention of Indigenous students enrolled in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the country recognized by the Ministry of Education. In addition to strengthening affirmative action initiatives for Indigenous populations in HEIs across the country, the PIPOU Program intends to create support strategies to mitigate the numerous difficulties faced by students that ultimately lead to dropping out, such as: lack of financial resources, absence of academic support, didactic and pedagogical challenges in their studies, among other issues.

In this first call for applications, 50 scholarships of R$1 per month will be available, in addition to a laptop computer for the selected students. The eligibility criteria are:

  • Belonging to the Gavião (Mãe Maria Indigenous Territory, in Pará); Guajajara (Rio Pindaré and Caru Indigenous Territories, in Maranhão); Tupiniquim and Guarani (Tupiniquim Guarani, Caieiras Velhas II and Comboios Indigenous Territories, in Espírito Santo); and Krenak (Krenak Indigenous Territory, in Minas Gerais) peoples and being enrolled in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs);
