ISPN inaugurated its new headquarters last Monday (24), with an eco-sustainable proposal and improvements in infrastructure and size. The inauguration took place during the celebration of the organization's 33rd anniversary, which was attended by the press, partner organizations, representatives of public authorities and featured a tasting of socio-biodiversity products.
The new headquarters received a rainwater harvesting system, which is being used for cleaning and irrigating the office gardens. It also included the implementation of a photovoltaic energy system, with panels, inverters, and controllers that produce more than 80% of the energy needed to operate the building.
The office architecture features strategically placed windows that allow sunlight to illuminate most spaces, reducing the need for artificial light. These actions were designed to make better use of available resources and avoid waste, since the space, which previously had only 244,35 m² of area, has tripled in size and now has a total of 744 m².
According to the managing director and technical advisor of ISPN, Cristiane Azevedo, the reason for the renovation was the increased workload and the growth of the team with the arrival of new technicians, advisors, and interns. "We now have a work environment designed in a sustainable way, which is already providing greater quality in the interaction and exchange of experiences among the entire team," she stated.
Currently, the headquarters has more space for ISPN publications to be displayed, more meeting rooms, a cobogó facade, wider entrances, and greater accessibility in the bathrooms with grab bars. In addition, the artist Daniel Jacaré decorated the building's exterior wall with an illustration of a landscape of babassu palms and coconut breakers. The artwork symbolizes the importance of this palm tree, which is a source of income, life, and history for thousands of women in northern and northeastern Brazil, and which can be found in various biomes such as the Cerrado, Amazon, and Caatinga.
