With nearly 30 years of existence and more than 938 eco-social projects executed to date, the institutional strategy of the Institute for Society, Population and Nature (ISPN), called the Promotion of Productive Eco-social Landscapes (PPP-ECOS), now has a online portal which brings together nearly three decades of information.
The portal was launched on October 25th, during the 3rd ECOS of the Amazon – an event organized by ISPN in Brasília-DF, from October 24th to 26th, with representatives from 56 community organizations supported by the PPP-ECOS Fund, financed by the Amazon Fund between 2019 and 2023.
More information can be found on the website ppp-ecos.ispn.org.br/ about the strategy ISPN's institutional guidelines, check the PPP-ECOS calls for proposals – from the most recent to the first and oldest – and to know their donor portfolio – that's more than 12 in these years of operation.
It is also possible search for projects through filters such as year, applicant, call for proposals number, city, state or biome, or even the theme to which the projects relate. Example: agro-extractive activities, beekeeping and meliponiculture, fire, biodiversity management, etc.
The "Stories" section brings together texts that recount the eco-social experiences behind the projects, the people involved in carrying out the initiative, the products developed in the communities, as well as the positive impacts on the environment and the social reality of the landscapes.
“The portal brings together a large online portfolio of productive eco-social projects carried out by ISPN over almost 30 years. It systematizes this work, shows the consolidation of an innovative format for supporting projects with traditional peoples and communities and, why not, generates data for research and other consultations in this regard,” explains Rodrigo Noleto, coordinator of the ISPN Amazon Program.
About the PPP-ECOS Fund
The promotion of Productive Eco-social Landscapes (PPP-ECOS) is the main strategy adopted by ISPN in the pursuit of development with social equity and environmental balance. To enable this strategy, the Institute manages an independent Fund that raises and allocates resources to projects of community organizations that work for environmental conservation through the sustainable use of natural resources, generating economic and social benefits.
Today, the PPP-ECOS Fund's portfolio of funders includes the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Amazon Fund/BNDES, the Laudes Foundation, the European Union, and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
