This call for proposals is aimed at Indigenous, pro-Indigenous, and/or socio-environmental associations, preferably those working with Indigenous peoples in Maranhão and northern Tocantins (Kraholandia and Apinajé Indigenous Territories), provided they are formally constituted. Non-Indigenous institutions must demonstrate their experience with projects and actions involving Indigenous peoples, as well as prove the consent of the beneficiary community(ies) of the project. Projects must demonstrate that their objectives and activities are part of a collective construction process. They may reflect or enhance actions already underway in the communities, provided that their eco-social character is duly substantiated.
Institutions may submit proposals of up to R$ 50.000,00 (fifty thousand reais). Based on the objectives, methodologies, scope, and breadth of the activities, proposals exceeding the stated value will not be accepted, even if justified.
The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the conservation of Eastern Amazonia through the integrated territorial and environmental management of 10 Indigenous Territories, inhabited by approximately 19.000 Indigenous people and encompassing more than 2 million hectares. By empowering Indigenous peoples and equipping them with management tools, the aim is to improve the governance and protection of these Indigenous lands, ensuring their contribution to biodiversity conservation and the maintenance of ecosystem services.
The call for proposals will be open until May 8, 2020*.

The CTI/ISPN/USAID Project – “Integrated Environmental and Territorial Management of Indigenous Lands in Eastern Amazonia”, approved by the United States Agency for International Development – USAID, is executed by the Indigenous Work Center – CTI and the Institute for Society, Population and Nature – ISPN, in partnership with the indigenous organizations Coordination of Organizations and Articulations of Indigenous Peoples of Maranhão (COAPIMA), Articulation of Indigenous Women of Maranhão (AMIMA) and WytyCatë Association of the Timbira People.
