The Ecos Fund, the ISPN's financial mechanism, launches a call for proposals within the scope of the Eighth Operational Phase of the Small Grants Programme (SGP) in Brazil, with resources from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The objective is to support initiatives by civil society organizations (CSOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) in the Cerrado and Caatinga biomes that promote sustainable socioeconomic practices, contributing to the well-being of communities and generating global environmental benefits.
Applications must be submitted via the form on the Ecos Fund website by 18 PM on November 10th. Access the form here.
"The purpose of this call is to support community organizations spread across the Cerrado and Caatinga biomes, in an attempt to overcome the invisibility and inequalities in access to resources that these regions face," explains Rodrigo Noleto, coordinator of ISPN's Community Initiatives program.
He also stated that the call seeks to strengthen organizations that value sociobiodiversity chains and, most importantly, promote the conservation of territories, cultures, and knowledge. "For us, the Ecos Fund strengthens the promotion of environmental justice for indigenous peoples, traditional communities, and family farmers," he added.
The notice provides for the allocation of approximately R$5 million to support projects, with resources from the GEF, within the scope of the project “Eighth Operational Phase of the GEF/SGP”, executed by ISPN in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The selection of proposals and the definition of the general guidelines of the Ecos Fund are supported by the National Steering Committee (CGN), composed of representatives from UNDP, government agencies, civil society and academia.
