Note of condolence: Community leader in Mato Grosso, Liliane Vieira, dies at age 48.

Liliane Vieira, a family farmer and community leader from Mato Grosso, died at age 48 from heart failure.

A partner of ISPN and beneficiary of the Ecos Fund through Agripac, where she was president, she dreamed, realized, and helped to change the reality of one of the oldest agrarian reform settlements in the country, the Cachimbo Settlement, in Peixoto de Azevedo (MT).

“She dared to lead Agripac with delicacy and firmness, and with it the dream of her community: to structure a small agro-industry, an initiative that today benefits the produce from the numerous backyards and areas of the settlement, generating income for their families. A new destiny was forged in the settlement, especially for its women,” commented historian Isabella Braga, who worked as a technical advisor for the Ecos Fund on the Agripac project.

The Ecos Fund, through the ISPN team, thanks Liliane for her leadership, commitment, and example in executing the Fund's project, with support from the Amazon Fund. It expresses its condolences to her family and fellow activists.

The untimely passing of this leader saddens the team, who will continue to honor his life and work.

Liliane Vieira, present!
