Articulation and Political Incidence

We work with civil society and government spheres for the rights of Indigenous Peoples, Traditional Peoples and Communities, and Family Farmers (PIPCTAFs), for biodiversity conservation, and for productive inclusion.

ISPN advocates that it is possible to conserve biodiversity, address climate change, and build social justice by recognizing the rights and ways of life of PIPCTAFs.

More than that, these populations need to be at the center of decisions that affect their territories and the future of the planet.

We work so that

The territorial rights of PIPCTAFs are recognized, respected and protected.

The sociobioeconomy has adequate policies, laws and incentives.

Climate and environmental financing mechanisms reach the grassroots in adequate volumes and in an accessible manner.

That Public Policies consider Free, Prior and Informed Consent and collective governance systems.

Brazil adopts development models rooted in socio-environmental justice.

Our work combines political dialogue, knowledge production, training, social mobilization, and institutional action to influence laws, programs, and public budgets.

We advocate for the model of promoting ecosocial productive landscapes, which integrates sustainable production and nature conservation by valuing traditionally occupied knowledge and territories and the economies of sociobiodiversity.

Pillars of action

Political incidence

Through our advocacy work, we engage with the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches at the federal, state, and municipal levels, and with participatory councils to propose, monitor, and qualify public policies that strengthen communities' territories and ways of life.

We work to recognize funds and financing mechanisms adapted to the realities of the territories, seeking financial justice and strengthening community initiatives.

We mobilize leaders, support campaigns, and offer training to strengthen social participation in decision-making processes.

We participate in international forums such as the UN Conferences on Climate and Biodiversity, advocating for the inclusion of PIPCTAFs in decisions and regulations that impact their territories and ways of life.

We develop studies, technical notes and indicators that support our proposals for public policies, valuing technical criteria, scientific methods, traditional knowledge and interpretation of evidence to support incidence and decision-making in public policies.
